A Pinwheel Wedding by Loving Legacy Photography

Ohhhh-tayyyy! So really peeps. What could be better kicking this supercalifragilisticexpialidocious kind of weekend off than with a spectacular seaside wedding and PINWHEELS!? I seriously could not wait to share this fabulous wedding captured by the super sweet, Angela Sackett, from Loving Legacy Photography. I’m only in love with like, ummmm, ALL of it! I especially love the bride’s veil, the groom’s Converse kicks, and their custom wood cake toppers!!

Okay, okay if you’ve been following me here than you already know we will have all the above details in our own wedding! Yay! I just love when couples intertwine such fun details throughout their day and Katie & Chris did just that. I can imagine this wedding was off the charts and Angela made sure not to miss one second of it!

A little bit about our Seaside Couple:

Where we met: I (Katie) was a senior in college and Chris had previously graduated from the same school in central Florida. After moving from states way up North we met down in Florida at a bar…not the most romantic beginning, but we both knew pretty much right away we would be here someday..married and happier than ever!

About the big day:  The entire day was incredible. Getting ready for the ceremony was very surreal. I could see the ceremony site from the window of the B&B where I was getting ready with all of my girls and my mom. I loved spending that time going from nervous to excited over and over again with such an amazing group of girls. The walk down the aisle was the most memorable moment of the day. It felt like slow motion and all I could feel was my dad holding my arm as tight as he could and all I could see was my husband-to- be smiling at me from the other end of the aisle. It was a feeling I will never forget. The party was an immense amount of fun, but it was a whirlwind and flew by in what seemed like minutes! Chris and I especially loved looking around and seeing all the different people from different stages in our life together in one place all having a blast together.

It’s all in the details: Planning the wedding was incredible and an incredible amount of work! The most important thing to both of us was that our guests felt our presence throughout the night in as many aspects as possible. We wanted to create a very unique, personal, and fun experience for everyone. We feel so blessed to have had so many wonderful people in our lives that planning revolved so much around creating a special night not only for us, but for all of those people.

His favorite part of the day: Watching Kate coming around the corner.

Her favorite part of the day: It is really hard for me to choose a favorite moment, but when I sit back and think about the day I immediately go to the ceremony and the walk down the aisle. It was just so perfect. The ceremony took us a long time to plan so each moment during that part of the day was so packed with emotion. I could not stop smiling.  At least, that is what I’ve been told.

One tip to share with other brides: Every few minutes, stop, look around, and remind yourself that it is your wedding day. It goes so incredibly fast.

And where did these lovebirds go for their honeymoon? The honeymoon was a big surprise. Chris revealed the destination on our sailboat farewell ride after the wedding.  We took a Carnival Cruise to Grand Caymen, Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel. We spent the week doing lots of relaxing and enjoying each others company and some fun adventurous excursions including Cave Tubing, Sea Trekking, & Snorkeling!

I love it when we can take a step even further into a couple’s day & get to know them a little better with video. So today I also get to share Katie & Chris’s amazing wedding trailer and they are adorable! Two thumbs up goes to Movie Magic Productions and to each of their dad’s for making such beautiful & sentimental speeches! *Squish*

Destination Wedding in St. Maarten by A Brit & a Blonde

I am tickled with excitement because I get to feature a lovely little destination wedding that took place in St. Maarten and was photographed by the very talented destination wedding photography duo, A Brit & a Blonde {or you can call them by their real names, Jason & Jessica Hill if you wish to do so}. =) They may not know this but I’ve had my eyes on their work for a while now and hoped to feature them here on OSB one day! Love it!

So yes, today I have Cynthia & Dali’s wedding but will be featuring their gorgeous engagement session in a few weeks. Yes, I know engagements come before weddings & marriage, so call me backwards. But that’s what I’m feeling like these days just a week out from my own destination wedding. Like I have 3 countdowns in my head right now! And since I know you care what they are I’ll share. =) (LOL). So #1: my last day at work (which is um TOMORROW!!!), #2 when we board the plane to Cabo (7 days away), and #3 the actual wedding (11  days away). OH! And remember I live in Florida but my “wedding headquarters” is in Georgia where my ma lives and where we’re catching our flight from, and then of course the wedding is in Mexico. So I have just a little case of countdown explosion, location confusion, and a million other whichways, whereabouts, and whatchamacallits dancing all up in my head. My “weddingitis” has officially kicked in too!!

Okay anyway, enough about me (geesh- so selfish right?!?) and back to our beautiful oceanside couple!

From the lovely Oceanside Bride, Cynthia herself: We met in Toronto in the annex 5 years ago and got along right away. We chose St. Maarten because it’s where we got engaged. Dali proposed in a gazebo on the beach on the French side.

We did most of the elements on our own because we could get exactly what we wanted, it was cost effective, and it was more personal. I really love simplicity, and hand-made elements. I’m not into lavish styling, preferring the less is more approach. I designed the invitations based on vintage airplane tickets, brought our initials in wooden letters for centrepieces, made my own necklace, fascinator and veil. It was important to us to have an intimate, meaningful wedding with those we cared most about.

We spent hours choosing music, and chose Ben E. King’s Stand by Me for the start of the ceremony, Coeur de Pirate’s La Vie est Ailleurs for the walk down the aisle, and Bob Marley’s One Love for after the ceremony.

We had a lovely wonderful wedding coordinator in St. Maarten, Sharon Remy from Celestial Weddings. We couldn’t have done it without her as it was very difficult coordinating details from far away. The hardest part was finding a photographer(s) who were available, we loved their work, and could work within our budget. Jessica and Jason are amazing and we are so happy to have had the opportunity to bring them to St. Maarten and get to know them.

The best part was the whole trip! It was wonderful having our closest friends and family with us for the time. It was amazing to have so much friendship, family and love in one place. It’s rare to get that kind of time with those you care about.

Advice for other brides? Have a great wedding coordinator, try to let things go as it’s impossible to control everything. And the day goes by so fast, so enjoy it!

A Colorful & Intimate Yacht Wedding in North Carolina

I have goodie for you that will hopefully make your day brighter! I love, love, love this beaut-tee-ful bright and colorful wedding that took place along the Intracoastal Waterway in North Carolina!!  The yacht, the flip flops, the DRESS- oh my!! All to die for. The couple first had a private ceremony aboard the father of the bride’s yacht and sailed for a few hours before docking where the couple was greeted with over 100 extended family & friends to party the night away. I love Lauren & Kevin Millard from KMI Photography for sending this gorgeous wedding my way!

From the oceanside bride, Missy: Brandon and I are very laid back people. My favorite place in life is sitting on the dock at Wrightsville Beach so what better place than to have our reception at the dock. Our number one priority was laid back and fun for our wedding. The men wore shorts and long sleeve button down vineyard vine shirts. The girls wore summer dresses. My dress was a short wedding gown. All outfits were complete with rainbow flip flops. We wanted it to be bright, fun, and beachy colors. We had glow in the dark necklaces, bracelets, and rings to spice up the reception once it got dark. We just wanted everyone to leave saying that it was the most fun and comfortable wedding they had ever been too. Everyone danced and loved the liquor luge. Some of our friends said they didnt even know there was a tropical storm going on outside the tent because they were having so much fun. Our ceremony was on my dad’s new 57 Selene Trawler, top speed is 8 miles per hour. Neither one of us like to have any attention on ourselves so we figured just our families on the boat for our vows would be perfect. We both love nothing more than cruising around on the boat with a drink in our hand right before sunset. We cruised around for almost 2 hours and said our vows. Then we drove back to our dock where our reception had already started. 100 friends and family were there to welcome us back and Mr. and Mrs. White.

And the pretty pics to go along with the details…

Blog Around the World {Out of Africa: Lucky #7}

Whoop, whoop- you found lucky #7 here! I’m so excited to be a part of and share this special Blog Around the World feature of a vintage desert safari shoot- Out of Africa! So what is this special photo “reveal” idea? Here’s a little from Alicia, one of the masterminds behind this fabulously wild photo shoot:

Hello Lovelies! I am Alicia from The Charity Wedding and I am excited to present another round of Blog Around the World with some of my favorite wedding bloggers! I recently helped organized a styled shoot using the theme of a Vintage Desert Safari. Each blogger will be showcasing a photo from the shoot and sharing some tips, advice, or just some pretty-eye candy for you to enjoy! Be sure to visit all the blogs to make sure you catch all the goodness! Thanks so much to all of the participants!

And now to share the lucky #7 photo!

Out of Africa: Blog Around the World

This photo took me deep into lala land as I reminisced and daydreamed of…

  • My sister Lydia’s wedding that took place this past November, overlooking the wintery mountains and quiet streams in Helen, Georgia.
  • A wedding full of rustic elegance with a dreamy bridal dress and accessory details like this big bow back and birdcage veil.
  • The sweet vintage travel inspired e-sessions that swarm blog land and unique luggage tags for a destination wedding or honeymoon.
  • All the pretty ways one can use bunting or garland as part of wedding day decor, bridal showers, or cake toppers!
  • Of all the places and journeys I hope my life takes me around the world including my own African safari, outback excursions, & European backpacking trips.

This photo also instantly made think of my own bridal shower hosted a few weeks ago by my sister, Lydia with beautiful tea inspired elements and decor picked out by both her and my mom. My mom already owns some awesome pieces of furniture that could be used as “props” so they were put to good use the day of my Iced Tea Bridal Shower. A vintage chair, old vintage school desk and chair, mini tea set, and old vintage window pane turned into a bridal tea masterpiece with hanging tea cups and smaller framed art created the perfect display under a shady tree and beside a hydrangea flower garden. Ahhh, gotta love all the creative women in my life!

Remember you can spice up and add a little “wow” factor with some unexpected props at your next event or party. And you can do it for cheap! Just start by looking around your home, borrowing from a friend, or if you want to dish out a little change- go to the Goodwill or check out some yard sales. You don’t have to go broke to add a little fun to the mix!

So now let the real fun begin! I invite you take a wild ride with me on this WORLD WIDE safari throughout the blogsphere to see more amazing details from the Vintage Desert Safari shoot. A new photo will be revealed by bloggers every 15 minutes so I raise caution- this may cause some serious eye candy distraction throughout the day! =)

Coming up next in just 15 minutes from her own fabulously stylish Girl Cave is one of the sweetest, most creative and talented chicks out there, Rhi from Hey Gorgeous!

And if you haven’t been following from the beginning, be sure to visit those who came before me to see how the scavenger hunt began and don’t forget to show them some love!
