Wooden Cake Toppers {Reader Spotlight} & Birthday Cake!

So related to our discussion yesterday about cake design, I have a Reader Spotlight to share with you all today!

Sometimes when I feel like no one is reading my blog or I wonder whether or not I am really “inspiring” anyone with the content I share, a little star shines down on me, reminding me to push on and to continue forth on this sail- regardless of whether or not I’m getting “immediate” feedback from readers.

These “stars” shining down are the very readers of The Oceanside Bride. It is often all YOU brides out there that help me continue on this journey. It might have been the smallest detail you found here or the dream oceanside venue or destination wedding location you never thought of. But of course I only find out these things when I hear from you!

So you know I was TOO excited to get an email from reader, Gaby who after seeing my attempt at painting my very own wooden wedding cake toppers, she was inspired to try her own!

From Gaby: So, after gathering the confidence to do my caketoppers thanks to you, I think they came out pretty awesome! :) Check them out. Once again, thank you soooo much for your inspiraiton, our wedding toppers were a hit!

Okay seriously- aren’t those headphones the BEST?! Gaby’s husband is a musician so it was important for her to incorporate his love for music. I absolutely love all the fine details Gaby added to them with the dress, the suit, the hair, the facial expressions, the shoes, and of course those freakin’ awesome headphones!

Gaby I’m so glad you shared your DIY cake topper masterpieces with us! I know by you sharing these, you’ll be inspiring the next bride out there to give it a try!

Don’t question your creative talents ladies. Believe in them and give it a go!

Got something to share? I’d love to feature a project you DIY’d after being inspired by the blogsphere- so share on!

On another notes I just couldn’t pass the opportunity to give a birthday shout out ALL the way across the world to the one and only Steph from Bubblerock Studios! Although it is still Thursday, September 15th here in the US (10:45AM as I write this), it is already morning (2:45AM to be exact) and Friday, September 16th in New Zealand where Steph lives so it IS her BIRTHDAY! She is seriously one of the sweetest, caring, most passionate {and TALENTED} people around. She has the most genuine heart and it’s super easy to get drawn in by her presence. She’s become a good friend {yes, even over thousands of miles of ocean} and I just want to wish her a very happy birthday!

Have a great birthday weekend Steph!! I KNOW this year will bring you lots of love, happiness, and success!

Psst…and have some cake for me!!

 xo,

Mel

How cool is that?! Ha, LOVE those dreads, too! So awesome. I totally know what you mean about wondering whether anyone is even reading sometimes. I’m always surprised when I hear about someone outside of my immediate family is reading my blog =P Receiving emails from brides is THE BEST motivator in the world!!!
