Music-Inspired Retro Seaside Engagement Session

I pretty much starting doing backflips when I received this amazing engagement session from Misty DeBlasio.  I was so excited I had to clear my Friday calendar to post this beauty asap and I think you’ll be happy I did too.

I can’t tell you how much I love the photography style Misty used with this couple and how she totally customized the shoot based on the interests and personality of the couple.  Anchored balloons in water, a couch, candles, a California license plate, some awesome lighting, an amazing sunset and an oh-so-cute couple made this one perfect E-session!  If you have not been to Hilton Head Island, SC,  where this e-session was taken, you must go.  It’s definitely a nice long-weekend getaway location.

Please be sure to read all the fun details the couple planned for their special day from Misty below and why they incorporated the props they did into their shoot. Made me wish I was invited to their wedding!

O.M.G. Look at the colors in that amazing sunset! This has to be one of my all-time favorite engagement sessions I’ve come across.  Misty has had well over 19 requests to duplicate this shoot for other local couples. Woah- that’s a lot!  But she remains loyal to the couple, Remi and Tori and has not due to the fact this was original to them.  She did however, want to share with the rest of us in the world to help get our creative juices flowing with inspriation to create our own perfect e-session masterpiece!

From Misty about this fab couple: Remi and Victoria met when he came to choreograph her dance team. Remi is also a singer/songwriter/ and DJ. When I met them to talk about their wedding and learned their bridal party (almost all) were dancers, that Tori was going to be coming down the aisle to “clocks” by Coldplay and “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John, they were performing “Thriller” at the reception, performing break dancing “money dance” routines and that Tori was wearing a Vera Wang dress, I was hooked. Wanting a stylized engagement shoot we brought along a record player, some vinyl, balloons, vintage couch and candles. With a move to CA planned after the wedding to start their music career we used the suitcases and license plate as symbols. This was shot in a very exclusive gated community, the first half being shot right next to a busy intersection where I found a wonderful small body of water with beautiful trees that I thought fit the theme. Light was fading fast so we headed to the private beach area. Tori told me that she did not like to smile for the camera and wanted a different look and I was very excited to see their chemistry and personality come through as we shot this engagement shoot. They used the silhouette sunset shot with the balloons to make their wedding invitations.
