Happy Birthday JJ! Love, Your #1 Fan {Mel’s Monday}

Soooo it couldn’t be better timing that this lovely day fall’s on Mel’s Monday! In case you did not know already (and you probably didn’t), I am a HUGE Janet Jackson fan! Go ahead- some of you may laugh- that’s okay. I get a lot of crap for it for some reason, but that’s fine. Go right ahead. The rest of you may want to celebrate Miss Jackson’s BIRTHDAY with ME! Woohoo- 45 years today and not looking a day over 30. =)

My Janet obsession began when my mom took me to see her concert in Atlanta when I was in the 7th grade. After that it was all down hill. I’ve been to every concert since then until her most recent Number Ones due to the fact I now live in a small ass town and it would be 5 hours to get to the concert which was then on a week day that unfortunately conflicted with priorities at work. I almost cried- no, seriously. I pretty much did. I still can’t bring myself to throwing out the t-shirts or pins I’ve collected over the years either. Is that pitiful?

Everyone who knows me really well knows that I love Janet to the point I’ve even had co-workers bake her a cake on HER birthday a few years ago and bring it into work so we could sing and celebrate! Haha. And when I left that job as a “going away” they did a little Janet Jackson trivia game with me to see just how well I “knew” her. Yup! Passed with flying colors!  So anyway just a little peek into my crazy daydreams and wishes that one day I would still have a chance to join Team Janet as a backup dancer. Maybe in my next lifetime but until then, I’ll just watch her little #1′s medley over and over again for the rest of the afternoon and celebrate her big day!! =)

{and yes, somehow, someway her tune’s will be incorporated into my big day! I’m hoping my groom creates our own little Janet medley for the reception!}

That’s so weird. I had no idea it was her birthday and I totally had If in my head. I love her too, I really do. I got on the Janet train when she released Janet. My little pre-pubecent dream was to be one of her backup dancers. No mind that I can’t dance at all. It was down hill for me then too, though I haven’t listened to her in such a long time. The only CD I have is Design of a Decade because the others are on cassette lol. I’m totally going to have to download all of them now.
